The History of Gellios™, continued
"The Best Ponytail Holder in the World!"
There was lots of interest, so the question was how to make LOTS. For the next several years, George searched fro someone to build a machine. It turned out that the very properties which make them an excellent ponytail holder -- size, strength, membory -- were the very qualities making automation quite challenging.
Meanwhile, I kept making them by hand with the equipment George designed, and supplying them to local customers. Over time, more folks were involved in making and distributing them, and Gellios™ were in stores from the Central Coast to San Diego, California. The mail carried them to Montana, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Florida, New York and the Netherlands.
Then life happened. Jenny Reveley (Stith) took the helm in 1999. She built a new website and worked hard to expand the business, but global-market economic reality was becoming noticeable. Within a year, Jenny was nearly wiped out in a tital wave of "copies" from the Pacific that hit the US markets in early 2000.
But she hung on! Orders would trickle in from customers that had tried the less expensive copies. They wanted the real thing. The one that didn't break. The one that kept its "spring." They wanted Gellios™.
Then life happened again. Jenny passed the torch back to me in 2002. In 2003, the website was linked to pinkgypsy.com. Penny Stewart was an instant fan! Her web skills and excellent customer service, together with the times, have brought us fully into the 21st century!
Long-time supporter and friend, Laura Sullivan, has dedicated years to educating me about natural hair care and supplying Gellios™ to her clientele. She's referred untold numbers of customers and deserves a hearty mention in our history. Check out her website, hairsyntony.com. It'll give you a new way to think about hair!
I'll be here making Gellios™ for you as long as you want them, even forr-evv-err!
Thanks a million!
